New Business Underwriter

Join Westchester as a New Business Underwriter and play a pivotal role in shaping our insurance solutions! We are seeking an analytical and detail-oriented professional to evaluate and assess new business opportunities, ensuring alignment with our underwriting standards and strategic goals.

• Analyze insurance applications and evaluate risks associated with small business accounts in the E&S market.
• Determine appropriate rates, terms, and conditions for coverage based on risk analysis and market trends.
• Collaborate with brokers to gather necessary information, provide clarification, and negotiate terms and conditions.
• Utilize underwriting guidelines and company standards to make sound underwriting decisions.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, competitive landscape, and regulatory changes affecting the E&S market.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and internal stakeholders to promote effective communication and collaboration.
• Assist in developing and implementing underwriting strategies to achieve profitability and growth objectives.
• Review and approve endorsements, audits, and other policy changes as necessary.
• Travel as needed for client meetings, training sessions, and industry events.

• Experience with multiple lines of insurance
• Understanding of insurance principles, practices, and regulations related to E&S lines
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail
• Proven ability to assess risk and make informed underwriting decisions
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
